History of St Michael & All Angels
From the original plans for the Church at Hall
From the original plans for the Church at Hall.

The book giving the history of the Church in Hall was published in 1999, with the following title and reference.

"St Michael and All Angels
Victoria Street, Hall ACT

The History of a Village Church
by Neil Manton"

Published 1999, ISBN 0 646 38764 2

The book describes the development of the Church in the Village of Hall, and the construction of the building through the 1940's. It contains copies of original documents and photographs of interest. It continues on to St Michael's in 1999.

But the book is not just the History of a Church in the Village of Hall, which is on the outskirts of Canberra, the Australian Capital Territory. The history of Hall goes back to, and before, the formation of the Australian Capital Territory. And so the book also touches upon people and places associated with Canberra from its inception.

The project to publish the book was assisted by funding made available by the ACT Government under the ACT Heritage Grants Program.

Net proceeds from the sale of the book will be used in the maintenance and restoration for the Church of St. Michael and All Angels, Victoria Street, Hall, ACT.

The printed book is of size 235 mm by 170 mm, containing 26 pages of fine print and pictures. Copies are available for sale, but only directly from the Parish.

For orders within Australia, copies of The History are available for $25 including postage. Payment by cheque or money order can be sent to the mailing address below.

For overseas orders, the cost including airmail but excluding currency transfer costs is $30 (Australian), or 10 British Pounds, or $15 (American). Please use the email address below to find out alternatives for payments from overseas, or if you have any other queries.
